What is the right to roam?
The answer
It is the customary freedom to enjoy nature, even on private land, within limits. According to the Ministry of the Environment's booklet, everyone may walk, ski, cycle or ride freely in the countryside if this causes no harm to property or nature, pick wild berries, mushrooms and flowers that are not protected, and stay briefly where roaming is allowed. It does not cover yards and gardens, and open fires need the landowner's permission. Verify details with official sources.
