What should I know about sauna etiquette?
The answer
Wash first, sit on a towel, keep your voice low and follow your host's lead on clothing and water on the stones. In private family saunas it is traditional to go without clothing, but swimwear or towels are common in mixed groups and public places, so ask if you are unsure. Do not bring food or strong scents into the hot room, avoid alcohol, drink water and leave if you feel dizzy or unwell.
